Day 1089 Missing
Still missing our sweet Peps — no sign of her anywhere. Realistically, she most likely became prey for a wild animal. She spent her life hunting tracks, and if that’s how she left this world, it was probably karma from all the bunnies, birds and mice she killed! She truly lived her best life — hunting, roaming, and exploring the world around her.
Tim and I are still holding onto a glimmer of hope that she’ll come home, but with each passing day, it becomes less likely. We are devastated with her absence, struggling to comfort each other while we’re each carrying so much sadness. The house feels eerily quiet — it’s incredible how much life a tiny little cat can bring into a home.
I’ve been contemplating life without my Peps, and I don’t like it one bit. She’s been part of our family for the past fourteen years, always looking and acting like a kitten. When she wasn’t out hunting, she’d sleep between Tim and me, and she always wanted to come in if she was out and go out if she was in. I think she enjoyed getting us up and making us work for her attention.
Today marks one week since she’s been gone, and it’s not a milestone we wanted to reach. I finally unplugged her water fountain — yes, she was spoiled with all the best gadgets. I’ll wash her fancy little dishes and tuck them away in her small house (the one she never quite took to), just in case she returns. Everything will be here waiting for her.
I'd love to believe some kindhearted old lady took her in, feeding her and giving her love. But deep down, I know the truth is probably harder to accept. Most likely, she met a sad end.
I know this post is much heavier than my usual upbeat updates — apologies for that. But grief has a way of demanding space. One thing we all know is that life goes on. Our pets are only with us for a brief chapter in our lives, and though their time may be short, the love they leave behind lasts forever.
Peps gave us so much joy, laughter, and companionship. We’ll carry her memory with us always.

💔😢 my heart is hurting for you and Tim! Db
ReplyDeleteOmg! My cat is her twin with the hunting and the in and out. When she’s in she wants out when she’s out she wants in. Some many bunnies, birds, and mice she has brought to the door as gifts. Just like your sweet Peps. My heart is sad for you. Praying she comes home!
