Day 321 Zoobilee
Another fantastic Zoobilee filled with amazing food, friends, live music and of course animals. This event is the biggest fundraiser for Roger Williams Park Zoo and my favorite night of the year. The zoo closes down for the day to prepare for the night and when the doors open at 6pm it's a 21+ for grownups to enjoy the zoo all to themselves. Restaurants from all over the state set up tents to showcase their best bites, breweries and wine makers give tastes of new spirits and within no time you're stuffed from all the little tastings. Not only can you roam the zoo to check out the animals but they bring out animals to show you up close. This year the zoo had an entire trail with a robotic dinosaur exhibit... some of which were enormous!! We may need to visit again with our grandsons, the little ones would love it!! What to wear for the Zoobilee is always a challenge, especially with the weather being so sketchy these days. When in doubt, a Lilly Pulitzer maxi dress always fits the bill. This beautiful print maxi must be at least ten years old and has always been one of my favorite dresses. Its cotton, comfy and amazingly still fits me! You might recognize my leopard print dress on my beautiful friend Sarah, fabulous! She certainly rocked that dress and the animal print for a night at the zoo was perfect. The band played a fantastic mix of disco with new favorites and the crowd enjoyed dancing under the big tent until the event closed. When security tells you it's time to go you know you've squeezed all the fun possible out of an event. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing zoo right here in RI and although I don't go often these days I appreciate how important it is in our community. When my kids were little we were regulars at the zoo and its always a hit with our grandsons. As fun as the zoo is with kids, having the entire zoo to yourself as grownups is even better! I even think this might be one of Tims favorite events... I know he's dragged to all kinds of crazy things. The weather held with no rain making it feel like summer and giving us the perfect night to feast with the beasts at RWPZ.
