Day 447 Marie Antoinette

My Marie came together nicely and Tim sure did bring his A game for our Halloween party. The last detail needed for Tim's outfit was a pair of nylon knee highs, not the easiest thing to find. After a bit of searching I found compression socks that worked perfectly. It's the small details that make things come together, like the painted on birth mark on my cheek and my ostrich feather in my wig. I also carried a small cake throughout the night, but had to trade it now and again for my goblet of wine. It was so much fun seeing everyones creative ideas for costumes. There was a Charlie Chapman that looked outstanding as well as a Spanish matador and flamenco dancer. My friend and her husband put together an interactive beer pong costume, he was the cup and she was the ping pong ball, super cute. I brought a few guests, my friend Melissa, Rick and even my son and daughter in law joined us! We didn't expect the weather to be quite so warm, who would have thought we'd be hot standing outside in late October? We had our own mini costume parade as the judges looked over everyone and Tim and I were delighted to be selected first place! Not surprising to anyone I strive for first place at all times and may have even tried to bribe the judges with French vanilla cupcakes. Tim expects people to know their characters and be able to give a brief bio of the person on demand. We were once at an event where a women was dressed as Amelia Earhart, she was an impressive look alike but when Tim asked her about herself she knew nothing about Amelia. Tim walked away disappointed and no longer appreciated her costume efforts and still talks about it each year. Well, the opposite was true as we sat with friends and I was asked to tell them a thing or two about Marie. I gave a mini history lesson, telling all about Marie from childhood to the guillotine, watching Tim's face as he beamed with pride. He should know me well enough to know I'm not throwing on a spectacular dress, wig and makeup without backing it up with brains. Now to start thinking of costumes for next year, pressure is on as the reigning champions. At least if I'm dethroned it won't be by guillotine.
