Day 531 Birthdays & More

We may be in the cold of winter but that didn't stop my beach club friends from getting together to celebrate a Birthday! We've been planning this for weeks, coordinating schedules and finally the stars aligned for the eight of us to come together for a dinner party. My friend Donna was the host as well as the Birthday girl and served us the most amazing dinner of short ribs, potatoes and home made popovers, yum! Dinner parties sure do get better as we age, each couple brings something delicious to contribute to the night and everyone arrives prepared to embrace whatever fun unfolds. I had a beach themed cake made for dessert and was thrilled with how it came out, it was as delicious as it was beautiful. After devouring trays of appetizers, dinner and dessert we sat at the table playing a silly game of Guesstures. We laughed and carried on until midnight like a bunch of teenagers. Everyone became totally immersed  in whatever silly word or phrase they tried to convey, without a smidge of self consciousness.  I'm not sure who we enjoyed watching more, the experts or our friends that could't figure the game out at all but continued trying and giving it everything they had! This fabulous group of friends have committed to year round dinners, alternating houses so we each take turns hosting. As we grasp for any excuse to get together, Birthdays will always need celebrating and I'm already gearing up for mine! We may need a Valentines get together, a St. Patricks Day celebration, each month seems to offer up a theme just waiting for us to make plans. Before we know it we'll be back at the beach celebrating in the sunshine, but thankfully, my beach club friends have seamlessly transitioned into year round friends, making their mark in my world and becoming treasured friends in my life's collection of friendships.
