Day 667 Spring Nights

What a spectacular evening with my beautiful stepmom. No matter what we chat about, it always ends up with stories about my dad. She found a card I had given him a million years ago and brought it to surprise me. I vaguely remember the card, definitely remember the sentiment inside it and was pleased to be reminded that I always told my dad how special he was to me and how much he was appreciated. Teri came straight over from work so I made sure to have her favorite dinner from Mariner Grille waiting. We usually meet that the grille but with all the sunshine I figured it would be better to bring the grille to us and enjoy the evening outside. We were entertained by my chickens, fed them, collected eggs and Teri marveled at what a healthy flock I have. We chased the sun until it was completely gone before calling it a night. I was exhausted from an extra early rise, ready for bed and must have been asleep within seconds of my head hitting the pillow. All the yard work, planting and projects has me busy, busy, busy. I had started my chair painting project at 6am and was able to get one chair done, the fabric is still taped up with newspaper, big reveal on its way. My outdoor set with four green chairs and green table with glass are soon to be grey, they'll look so much better on my fancy painted concrete patio. I'm watching the weather carefully, so much painting to do, with rain possible this weekend it could foil my plans. I'm not usually a weeknight worker, but may have to go for it to get ahead of the rain. Once all these smaller projects are complete I'll be shifting to the patio area under my deck, redoing and extending it a bit. Did I say I love spring?? No wonder I like summer the most, by then all the spring projects are done and the enjoyment begins. My kids accuse me of creating work for myself, I suppose I can't argue with that but in my defense, my ideas are fantastic and will be worth the effort. Cans of spray paint on the ready, stencil in hand, planters unfinished, dining set waiting, bricks stacked for patio area,  looks like I need a week off to get my projects under control. With my list growing, I was happy to devote the night to catching up with Teri, not giving a thought to the chores, sitting and relaxing, drinking a wine glass filled with water and lemon slices, eating dinner outside with one of my favorite humans, perfection.
