Day 672 Foul Weather Friend

Don't let the sunshine fool you, it was mostly a rainy day with grey skies and downpours. I was outside early to get my projects completed before the rain began. Another can or two of spray paint to the for the win! I have a few old resin flower pots that have seen better days but are the perfect size. The once large white pots are a chipped mess, reveling a darker background and looking shabby, not even shabby chic. I power washed them and began to transform them into new spectacular pots that will now become a focal point instead of eyesore. I've never spray painted pots before but after seeing this transformation I'll be doing it every year! I'll try to post a photo of my before and after another day. I finished my project in time for them to dry and get all my planting done before heading to the beach club. As I drove to the club the torrential rain had engulfed the once sunny morning. I had warned my Mahjong friends that I'd be a foul weather friend, not wanting to miss a minute of sunshine sitting inside, so the rains timing was perfect for our one o'clock games. I haven't played in a couple weeks and felt a bit rusty as I began to play, although must have gotten my groove back since I won more than my fair share of games. We sat inside playing, listening to the waves and occasionally looking out at the stormy sea. I never take for granted how lucky I am to have a cozy shelter, especially during a storm. As if Mother Nature knew when we'd be ending our games, the sun came back out and the skies cleared right as we finished playing. We moved out onto the deck and soaked in the late afternoon sunshine chatting and decompressing from the intense concentration of gameplay. The majority of gals in my Mahjong gang are over 80, but they say, that's only from the neck down, from the neck up they are still in their 60's so we're pretty evenly matched. I'm not one that likes old people just because they are old, crappy people grow old too but my bunch of old gals are fantastic and I'm sure always have been. I'd be friends with this crew and any age!  My friend Donna and I were complimented after playing, being told that we are good enough now to play anywhere and with anyone! It's a bigger compliment than you realize but wasn't lost on us. I better hope for a few foul weather Sundays, to keep my A game moving forward. I also would love to see Tim and Donna's husband learn, then we could really get some practice in! Getting them to learn will be our mission for next winter, for now, we'll enjoy the sunshine.
