Day 683 Golden Nugget

Another perfect day at the beach followed by an evening with friends. My mother joined me for a beach day, leaving the heat of town for the ocean breeze (five minutes away). It really is amazing how nice the weather can be while sitting on the shore, compared to the steamy inland heat. We didn't venture into the water, still a bit too cold but we did take a walk and hunt for lucky rocks. We left mid afternoon, salty, tan, relaxed and allowing me time to get ready for my friends visit. I couldn't be luckier to have these ladies in my world, best friends are life's treasures and I'm surely blessed to be one of this amazing Fab Four. We eagerly entertained one another with stories, each vying for the funniest or strangest tale. Once again the universe gave me a golden nugget just in time for our get together and I was able to claim the imaginary prize. I had gone to the pharmacy before heading to the beach to pick up my prescription for estrogen (personal I know but relevant to the story). The interaction started out as routine as you'd expect, the young man in his late 30's early 40's asked me my name and date of birth then went to retrieve my prescription. As he looked at it then at me I waited for the next question expecting, do you have any questions for the pharmacist but instead heard, (with a smile and a tinge of flirtation,) "picking up a little something to keep you looking younger, hey" before I could wrap my head around what was being said he continued, "well, it sure is working, I would have never guessed your age". My brain was too confused and stunned that proper protocol was being broken to say anything but thank you as I quickly drove away. The conversation with myself as I drove home was filled with questions, they're not suppose to comment on my prescription are they? What on earth was he thinking??  Was he flirting with me??  What the heck was he thinking? Good thing I wasn't picking up a prescription for a fungus or something, would he comment then? "Got a little fungus do we"? The entire interaction broke so far from rules of conduct that I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it and of course, couldn't wait to share it with my friends, giving us all a good belly laugh. I'm sure I could get the man in trouble, make a fuss over his inappropriateness but life's too short for all that, instead I see it as being given a gift of a great story, crazy but true. Although, going forward I may skip the drive through and go inside for my prescriptions. We can't control the strange curves life brings us or the crazy interactions that come our way, but we can decide who we share them with. These three ladies will always be with me on my journey, after all, we're the Fab Four.
