Day 935 Roses

My boutique of roses from Valentine’s Day is still going strong after two weeks! It’s a pleasant surprise because roses can be tricky. They’re undeniably beautiful, and their scent is fantastic, but they don’t usually last long once cut. In fact, I don’t think in the history of my life I’ve ever had a vase of roses that still looks so great after two weeks. They’ve kept their vibrancy and freshness in a way I didn’t expect, and it’s been so nice to enjoy them every day.

As for the candy that accompanied the flowers, well, that’s long gone. It was equally enjoyed, though! Chocolate and sweets have a magical way of making any day a little sweeter, and I’m grateful for those little indulgences. Chocolate is always a good idea!

Not feeling my best, I ended up staying home, which, in hindsight, was a blessing. I woke up with a sore throat and a slight headache, thinking it was just a little tiredness creeping up on me. But as the day went on, I could feel my body deteriorating. My energy drained, and by mid-afternoon, I realized I was definitely coming down with something. My bones and muscles ached like I’d been hit by a truck, and no matter what I tried, there didn’t seem to be anything that would help except time. I spent most of the day in bed, hoping each time I woke up I’d feel a little bit better, but my body had other plans.

Everyone around me has been sick recently, so I guess it was only a matter of time before it caught up with me. I’ve been doing my best to boost my immune system with vitamins, fresh air, and plenty of fluids, hoping it will help my body recover at lightning speed. There’s nothing quite like being under the weather to make you realize how important it is to take care of your health and be kind to your body. It is moments like these when you really appreciate the days you feel healthy and energetic.

So, while the roses brighten up the room and the candy remains a sweet memory, I’m focusing on getting better. Hopefully, the worst of it will pass soon, and I can get back to my usual routine—feeling good and enjoying life's simple pleasures again. Until then, I’ll keep resting, hydrating, and letting time do its thing. Although, I hope it's a quick turn around, I'd hate to waste my weekend being sick!
