Day 939 Jackie & Shadow
Still not feeling well, and it seems the big question of the day continues to be, "What to watch?" On my friend Donna's recommendation, I tuned into the Jackie and Shadow live stream on YouTube. The camera is set on a pair of bald eagles, sitting on a nest with two tiny baby eaglets and one remaining egg. The action is slow, but it's definitely worth watching, with beautiful scenery in Big Bear, California. As I watched, I found myself worried for the serenity of the eagle family. Predators such as snakes or owls are no doubt watching as well! For now, though, the tiny eaglets are safely under their parents' protection. Fingers crossed they continue to thrive and avoid all the lurking dangers. I'll be tuning back in to check on the family—beats any screensaver I've seen so far.
Later in the day, I tuned into a movie, Hillbilly Elegy, unaware that it was a biographical drama based on the true story and memoir of our current Vice President, JD Vance. Holy cow, was it captivating! I find it amazing how people can live through such difficulties. Some go quickly down a destructive path, while others overcome enormous obstacles and adversities, ultimately finding great success. Whether you like him or not, you can't watch the movie without being impressed. For a politician to own his past, showcase his darkest moments, and highlight his deep family connections—well, that's refreshing to see.
I finished the day watching, Horizon, an epic western tale that ran for three hours, only to realize it was just "Chapter One." There's supposed to be another two-and-a-half-hour movie to follow, but the first one was such a bust that the second may have been pulled completely. The movie was slow—possibly less entertaining than my eagle livestream! But since I wasn’t planning on moving from my bed anyway, I kept watching. It seemed like they tried to cram three different storylines into one movie, which made it difficult to follow. Honestly, it might have been better if they’d pulled each storyline apart and created three shorter movies. Oh well. Maybe Kevin Costner was thinking back to the amazing epic films like Gone with the Wind, but unfortunately, he missed the mark. Apparently, my time here at home has made me into a movie critic!
Hopefully, I’ll be feeling better soon. Other than my eagles, though, I'm starting to run out of good entertainment!
