Day 944 Thrive
As the weekend draws to a close, I find myself mentally preparing for the week ahead. Ready or not, life calls, and I must re-enter my routine, even though I still feel the lingering effects of exhaustion. While the fever and other symptoms have disappeared, fatigue seems to have settled in for a longer stay. But, with a hot shower, a strong shot of espresso, and a healthy dose of optimism, I’m hopeful I’ll be able to power through this week. Fingers crossed!
While I’m gearing up for the challenges of the days to come, one thing has kept me grounded and focused: my family of eagles. For the past week, I’ve been captivated by their daily routine, watching from a distance as the parents take turns feeding and protecting their eaglets. Their patterns have become predictable, with the parents feeding the young every forty minutes or so. Of course, the most aggressive eaglets always seems to get the lion’s share of the food, but surprisingly, the smallest one has managed to get a bite or two as well. It’s inspiring to watch the little one persist and hold its own.
What’s most fascinating is how the parents work together, taking turns hunting for fresh fish and then returning to the nest to feed the eaglets. Each time they climb off the nest to gather pieces from the fish carcass the eaglets eagerly emerge, ready to be fed. It’s a well-orchestrated dance, with the parents constantly switching roles between hunting and nurturing. It’s a true team effort, with the success of the eaglets entirely dependent on both parents working in harmony.
While it’s unlikely all three eaglets will survive, the odds stacked against them but there's always a chance! Makes my life seem pretty easy! I don’t need to be perfect or have everything under control, no need to hunt for food or sleep with one eye open. Seems silly to complain about being tired after having the luxury of rest and relaxation for a week as my body healed.
So, as I brace for the busy week ahead, I’ll continue to keep one eye on the eagle family, taking inspiration from their unwavering dedication to survival. And while their path won’t always be easy, I know the small victories—like getting through each day—are worth celebrating.
Here’s to the week ahead: may we all, like the eagles, find a way to thrive.
