Day 951 Seeing Green
As the weekend came to a close, we wrapped things up with a festive St. Patrick's Day celebration at the beach club. Now, I’ll be honest—I’m not even a wee bit Irish. But Tim, is, and when it comes to celebrating his heritage, I’m more than happy to oblige. After all, St. Patrick’s Day calls for some shenanigans, and I’m all about the fun!
Although I missed out on the prep work this time around, it was hard not to notice the dedication from my friends. They peeled potatoes and carrots for the 50 guests that were expected and decorated the club and tables beautifully. My contribution was much lighter: desserts and a veggie tray. Easy enough, right?
As expected, the crowd was decked out in festive attire. Tim, however, was feeling a little shy when it came to embracing the full green look. He has one green t-shirt, but let’s just say it’s not exactly "family-friendly." The shirt reads "Drink Up Bitches," which may not have been the most appropriate choice for some of the older folks in attendance. So, Tim opted for his trusty navy t-shirt, which was paired with a few green necklaces to add just enough of a festive touch.
I, on the other hand, dressed in festive attire from head to toe. I also decided to bring a little bit of green to the drink menu. I made up a batch of green mimosas, and let me tell you—they were a hit! Prosecco, orange juice, and a splash of blue curacao made the perfect green concoction for the day. Not only did they taste great, but they also looked amazing!
It was a picture-perfect day at the beach—though, let’s be real, it’s hard to imagine a bad day at the beach. The ocean was sparkling under the sunshine, and the beach club doors were open just enough to let in a gentle breeze that carried the crisp salt air inside. It made for the perfect backdrop as we all gathered to eat, drink, and bask in the holiday spirit, slowly coming out of hibernation after a long winter.
After dinner, the crew did what we always do—scrape leftovers into a bucket for my chickens. The chickens, of course, get to enjoy the remains of our feast all week long. It's become a tradition at the club, and since I hate to see food thrown out and wasted, it's a win/win. No waste and happy chickens!
All in all, it was a fantastic day filled with good food, great company, and the kind of memories that make St. Patrick’s Day one of my favorite celebrations of the year. I may not be Irish, but I sure do know how to join in the fun and go figure...that was only the Eve of the holiday.... and so it continues.
