Day 968 Yellow Flowers
Spring has officially sprung, at least inside my house. A couple of weeks ago, I brought in a few forsythia branches and set them in a vase. Now, those branches are fully in bloom, with bright yellow flowers that light up several rooms in my home. Their vibrant colors bring a touch of sunshine indoors, reminding me that warmer days are on the horizon. Outside, the branches are still holding onto their small buds, far from blooming, but the daffodils—those hardy little flowers that are a bit sheltered from the cold—are already showing off their cheerful blooms.
It’s funny how certain flowers can bring back memories. For instance, my grandmother used to have a real dislike for yellow flowers, though I never quite understood why. She never gave me a reason for it, but it was clear that she wasn’t a fan. I can’t imagine how anyone could dislike the cheerful brightness of a yellow bloom, but she did. On the other hand, I love all flowers in every color, especially yellow ones. I even have a soft spot for dandelions—those pesky “weeds” that seem to pop up everywhere. Who decides what’s a weed and what’s a desired flower, anyway?
Although not much is blooming outside yet, there are signs everywhere that spring is well on its way. And with it comes a mountain of yard work. But honestly, I can’t wait for the day when I can spend a few hours outside without having to throw on a jacket. The warmth of the sun, the promise of blooming flowers, and the fresh air—there’s something so invigorating about it all.
Tim and I have big plans for this spring, too. We’re determined to clean out our shed, a task that will take an entire weekend to complete. We’ve been scouring our calendars to find a free weekend for the job, but with April already packed with activities, we might have to put it off for a while. It seems like we always find something fun to do instead of tackling those chores. Oh well, the shed will still be there when we’re ready for it!
Speaking of fun, this weekend is my birthday, so there definitely won’t be any cleaning happening then. It’s all about celebrating, and I’m looking forward to the fun and adventures that come with it. I’ve got so many things I want to do that I’m sure my plans will spill over into the following weeks. Not that I mind—there’s just so much to see and do, and so little time to fit it all in. But I’m doing my best to make the most of every moment.
After a long winter of hibernation, I’m finally waking up to the excitement of spring. There’s a renewed sense of enthusiasm in the air, and I’m ready to dive into all the adventures and events that spring has to offer. Whether it’s cleaning out the shed (eventually!) or spending a day with friends, I’m embracing the season with open arms and a full heart.
Here’s to a spring full of new beginnings, blooming flowers, and the joy of spending time outdoors. Let’s make the most of it! 🌸
Your son also calls dandelions flowers! The HOA said he had too many weeds and he was like hey! Why are you calling my flowers "weeds!" Lol
