Day 980 Life's a Breeze
My dining room buffet is filled with birthday celebration remnants—gifts, cards, and tokens of love. I know I should clean it off to prepare for Easter, but I just don't want to. I love walking by, admiring all the beautiful cards and little prizes—it's a happiness overload! I might move the cards to make space for Easter, but I'm not ready to put any of it away… just yet.
I'm also not prepared for company or the full-on holiday prep that's heading my way—yikes. The house needs cleaning, beds need to be made, food needs to be bought and prepped, and of course, there are plastic eggs to fill for the hunt. I'm once again thankful for Walmart's delivery service—I'll be ordering my entire brunch online for Saturday. Not having to wander through a grocery store is always a time saver.
I've been scouring my calendar for a break in the action, eager to book a trip to visit my son in Virginia. I finally found a window of opportunity on Mother's Day weekend and jumped on it. To my delight, Breeze Airways flies directly from Providence to Richmond, and the entire flight is only an hour and a half! Not only is it a quick trip, but the round-trip fare was just $138! My son teases me for flying Breeze—he's more of a fancy airline kind of guy. But I love a cheap flight and refuse to pay for baggage or even a carry-on, so I’ll be marching on board with nothing but a small personal item packed with the essentials. Honestly, if I really want extra clothes, it’d be cheaper to mail them!
I’m so excited for a fun visit—especially since the last one involved me driving down to help care for him while he was suffering from blood clots and in a lot of pain. And the visit before that? I spent the entire time in bed with COVID. So, we’re definitely overdue for a visit with no ailments. I had hoped to fly down sooner, but finding a sweet spot in the schedule is tougher than it should be. With a direct flight being so inexpensive—and Thursday-to-Sunday options—I may need to visit more often!
Tim will stay home this time to hold down the fort and care for the chickens and Pep, but hopefully, he’ll join me next time. He’s short on vacation days and trying to build them up before taking any time off. I’ll be sure to stock the freezer with peach ice cream before I leave, so no need to feel bad for him!
I've written down the measurements for my one personal item, already eager for the packing challenge. I just love having a trip on the calendar—especially when it means seeing my son. Why do these kids have to grow up and move away?
As Easter prep kicks into high gear and my heart is still full from birthday joy, I’m clinging to every colorful moment—and looking forward to a spring adventure filled with sunshine, hugs, and zero emergencies or ailments. Life's a breeze!
