Day 985 Easter
Another year of Easter festivities in the books. Candy was in abundance as family rolled in to celebrate the holiday. I had planned a brunch so everyone could gather, enjoy, and be home at a reasonable hour. I had almost my entire crew here—three out of four of the kids, all the grands, and even my mom joined us this year.
My two oldest grandsons have shifted from collecting eggs to hiding them, and we were all entertained as the three youngest kids ran around the yard, searching and screaming with excitement at every egg found. We took photos of each family, a large group picture, and one of me with all my grandkids. Corralling everyone to pose for photos is never an easy task, but other than one of me and Tim, I managed to get each group! By the time I realized I hadn’t gotten even one single picture of Tim and me, I was already in my comfy clothes and no longer photo-worthy… there's always next year!
Somehow it seems unfair to have a Sunday holiday, with back to work and school looming over the day and forcing us all back into reality. Maybe we should have celebrated Saturday instead—but then again, real-life schedules would probably have interfered. Celebrating the eve of Easter might be worth suggesting for next year; we’ll see.
As fun as holidays are, I admit—for the Grammy in the group—it sure is a lot of work. All the prep, cooking, endless dishes, and clean-up made it feel like I was handcuffed to the kitchen sink or stove all weekend. I’ve never been a paper plate kinda gal, but I’m not judging anyone who is—they may have the right idea!
Even with all the house cleaning, cooking, and chaos, I wouldn’t trade a single moment with my crew for anything.
Another holiday well spent, and my heart is full... but my sink is empty!!
I have such fond memories of my grandma's cooking and don't know how she did it for huge groups of family. Those are my core memories and I'm sure the kids will love remembering you hosting holiday meals <3
