Day 992 Lucky Cat
I’ve always had a soft spot for lucky charms—bamboo, rocks, toads, little trinkets that hold more meaning than meets the eye. So imagine my joy when I received a lucky cat all the way from Japan!
Of course, the first thing I did was look up the best placement for this new charm—because yes, placement always matters. According to tradition, the lucky cat (or maneki-neko) works best when placed near the main entrance of the home, facing inward. This helps it welcome good fortune, happiness, and positive energy into your space.
At first, I had it sitting on my desk, next to a cheerful little lucky troll from Norway, but I’ve since decided to relocate it closer to the front door. After all, we could all use a bit more positive energy rolling in, right?
My lucky cat came with a tiny red felt square, and I’m absolutely keeping it. It gives off such a royal carpet vibe, adding a bit of flair and ceremony to the charm’s presence. I’ll just have to make sure it’s out of reach of my grandchildren’s curious little hands—they might mistake her for a toy… yikes!
When people come into my home, they often see what they think are just knickknacks scattered throughout. But to me, they are so much more. Each one is a token of good luck, fortune, protection, and positive energy—pieces of meaning collected over time.
What might look insignificant to one person often holds a deeper story or intention, as most things do if we take the time to see them for what they truly are.
In the end, filling our homes with intention and meaning invites more than beauty—it invites the kind of magic we all need a little more of.
