Day 996 Hats from years past

As Derby Day gets closer, my photo memories are filled with fancy hats from years past. I love seeing all the fabulous creations, the color combinations I chose, and the accessories I paired with them—no one could ever accuse me of being dull! Oh, the fun I’ve had with colored feathers, silk flowers, and plain hats transformed into something special.

This year will be the first time I'm not making my hat, as I was lucky enough to find exactly what I wanted online. It’s extremely unusual for that to happen—usually, I get a design stuck in my mind, and there’s no chance I’d find it anywhere, so I end up making it myself. I can only hope that this year's outfit comes together in reality as well as it does in my imagination!

The shirt I ordered for Tim arrived, and although he’s less than thrilled to let me dress him, he'll wear it anyway—thank goodness. By now, he should know I’d never steer him wrong. He always looks great when he dresses up in style.

I should probably do a bit of research on which horses are racing and what the odds are—though let’s be honest, that’s all secondary to the attire in my book. I’ve signed up to bring a dessert, and I’m super excited to put together that creation too. I’ll be making a chocolate charcuterie board—yes, an entire tray of chocolates, fresh berries, and treats. It’s bound to be delicious!

I’ll take plenty of pictures once it’s all assembled. Who knows? That sweet creation may just rival my outfit! Here’s to a day full of fashion, fun, and maybe even a little luck at the races.
