Day 1033 Milstones
My event went off with great success—even the rain held off for me! The radar showed large green masses moving in my direction, with just a narrow sliver of clear skies. Miraculously, I seemed to stay right in that clear pocket, like Mr. Magoo strolling obliviously through the world. It’s always a relief when a big project is behind you.
After the all-day event, I came home with burning legs from walking and standing for hours. I plopped down on the couch and felt like I could’ve stayed there forever—if not for an important dinner date to celebrate my grandson’s graduation from 8th grade!
It’s funny, but I remember my own last day of 8th grade—or at least the feelings I had that day—pretty clearly. For his dinner celebration, my grandson picked The Chop House. Mr. Fancy Pants! My daughter and son-in-law invited both sets of grandparents, and the eight of us came together to celebrate our Cash man.
I can’t believe my oldest grandson is six feet tall, heading into high school, and already more of a young man then a little boy. Time really does fly.
Tim and I arrived at the restaurant at the exact same time as my daughter and her family. When we saw each other—both wearing white pants and mustard yellow tops—we burst out laughing. My daughter is not someone who ever wants to match her mom, which made the accidental twinning even better! She wore flats and I had on heels, so for once, we were almost the same height. She’s a beautiful lady, inside and out, and has raised two incredible boys.
Evenings like this remind me how lucky I am—for good weather, successful events, and most of all, family milestones that bring us together. Life doesn’t slow down, but moments like these make it so sweet and the once in a lifetime mother daughter matching outfits made my day!
