Day 1047 Finally!
It was a perfect day at the beach... finally! I'm not sure I've ever seen the water so clean and clear—there wasn't a speck of seaweed to be found. The water was so translucent that you could see the ocean floor from the shore. Although still only 60 degrees, the cold temps didn't keep people from swimming.
The boys and I went for a long beach walk—or in their case, a run. They sprinted ahead as far as the eye could see, then turned around and ran back to check in with me. There's something so freeing for kids about an endless stretch of sand to run wild.
When we arrived, it was low tide—perfect for jumping waves, taking long walks, and making it past the rocks before the tide rolled in. Once high tide came, it brought big waves—too much for the kids, but still fun for a bit of jumping and dodging.
We're typically among the first to arrive and always among the last to leave, as it should be.
The only moment that cast a bit of shade on the day was when a woman parked her chair right in front of Bridie—and I mean within inches. There was plenty of open sand, so the beach real estate invasion was completely unnecessary. Bridie and I were so shocked we just moved our chairs, though I could’ve said something. Rookie mistake on my part—I forgot to set up our decoy chair to claim a bit of buffer space. I won’t make that mistake again. I did, however, make a strong mental note of who she was... she may find herself directly behind me next time!...did I ever mention my mean streak?
All in all, even with the chair intruder, it was beach day perfection. One point for Green Hill Beach Club!
There’s nothing quite like a beach day that goes just right—sunshine, salt air, happy kids, and a deep sense of calm. Days like this are what summer memories are made of.
