Day 1051 Trivia with a view

Before I get into it, the new chicken watering system seems to be working like a charm! I may even replace the cheap bin with an old cooler so the girls can have cooler water on hot days. It was such a relief not having to worry about keeping the water clean and full. Honestly, I’m wondering why I waited so long to try it!

Another thing I’ve never tried until recently was trivia night—and I wouldn’t have, if Tim hadn’t insisted on going to the GBC for their weekly event. Not a bad view for trivia night! We went with the intention of just checking it out, but once we arrived, it was clear Tim was there to play… with an eye on winning. There were large tables of 8-person teams, smaller groups of two, and then there was just the two of us, working through our answers together—mostly landing on the same ones.

Tim had some great music knowledge I lacked, but when we were asked what state Peeps candy is made in, he quickly wrote down "Connecticut." I argued (based purely on instinct) that it was Pennsylvania, convinced him to cross his out and write mine, and thankfully—I was right! Riding high on my Peeps win, we hit the final round, which left us both a bit stumped. In the end, we placed somewhere in the middle—not bad for our first time!

Next week, we’d love to go back, this time with a few “ringers” to help out. We definitely need someone with solid pop culture knowledge and another with sharper general knowledge. It’s amazing how different people carry unique tidbits of information. My son-in-law, for example, can quote just about every movie line ever made—and does so with ease.

At one point, I stepped outside to snap a quick photo of the sunset, risking everyone thinking I was cheating on my phone to look up some obscure trivia answer. But nope—I just needed a moment to soak in the beauty around me. Sunset, sound of waves, warm salt air… don’t mind if I do.

Trivia or not, nights like that remind me how much joy there is in simple fun, shared moments, and a little friendly competition. Can’t wait to see what next week brings!
