Day 1079 Sunday Dinner
Woke up to a cloudy day with ominous signs of rain, making for a slow morning at home—cleaning and finally getting some long-overdue household chores done. Dinner plans at the beach club were the only real reason to get dressed on this lazy Sunday. I came dangerously close to wearing all black just to tease my friends, but ended up in jeans and a beachy sweatshirt instead.
I put together a delicious veggie tray, determined to enjoy all the fresh produce that's now in season. Everyone showed up with something to share, and once we got to the club, we pushed all the high-tops together and took over the deck with our crew of fourteen. Donna had ordered pizza, which was conveniently delivered just as everyone had finished snacking on appetizers. She also made the most delicious lemon bars for dessert, while I brought a Pepperidge Farm cake to the table. Both desserts were a hit—props to her for baking and to Belmont’s for providing mine!
Carol and I slipped away from the group for a bit to walk down to the shore. The tide was extremely low, revealing a rocky shoreline that had us completely mesmerized. To the right, smooth sand stretched as far as the eye could see; to the left, nothing but rocks. I love catching a glimpse of what the ocean leaves behind when it pulls back—tiny crabs and sea creatures temporarily stranded, offering a peek into the hidden world beneath the waves.
Our Sunday night beach club dinner was the perfect way to close out the weekend. We laughed, shared good food, and soaked in those salty coastal vibes. Thankfully, Mother Nature smiled down on us and held the rain off until we were finished with dinner, giving us a perfect evening outside. We really need to make these Sunday night dinners happen more often before the summer slips away!
