Day 1099 Just Right

Another full day and night at the beach, bundling up in the cool night air while refusing to go inside. It was a perfect day—sunshine, clear water, and great seaside company. The water was warmer than expected and felt fantastic while I was in; it kept me cool for hours even after I got out.

Tim arrived hours after me, as always making his grand entrance and cleverly avoiding the midday sun. We sat together, chatting and enjoying the late-day skies before I headed up to the club to shower and change for dinner. A hot shower after a salty, sandy beach day is one of life’s greatest pleasures—rinsing off sunscreen, sand, and salt is both refreshing and deeply satisfying.

We had dinner on the deck while inside the club was packed. Our group was happy to be outside, enjoying the ocean breeze. One of the staff had prepared a meal for the entire club: baked stuffed shrimp, baked potatoes with an incredible toppings bar, and freshly picked corn on the cob. Everything was delicious! The din of voices and clatter from inside made me even more grateful for the peacefullness outside, listening to the waves roll in. We needed sweatshirts, but it was perfect.

Our table of seven had a slightly different crew since four of our usual eight apparently don’t like shrimp. We acquired three new additions and filled our table with lively conversation, though we missed our standard group.

Tim and I were home fairly early—by weekend standards, anyway—and climbing into my cozy bed felt almost as good as that hot, post-beach shower.

Days like this remind me why I love summer weekends so much. It’s not just the sun or the sea—it’s the simple, shared moments that make everything feel just right.
