Day 1100 Ocean Waves
Stormy seas and a windy day at the beach.
My sister-in-law, Alida, and I sat together watching the waves crash against the shore as we soaked in the sunshine. The wind was so strong it blew her hat off every time she tried to wear it. It was a rare treat for the two of us to have the beach to ourselves. And although we missed our guys, we truly enjoyed our girl talk.
I received updates on both Peps and the discovery of my watch. Good news first—I'm one step closer to finding out who turned in my watch! I asked around, and a young boy at the gate told me that two young girls had found it and handed it to him. Now I just need to find out who they are so I can thank them properly!
The news about Peps wasn’t good, but it was what I had expected. Someone I know reached out to my daughter asking specifics about Peps. My daughter called to share her suspicions, and I quickly followed up. It turns out the woman lives about a quarter mile away, in the Oaks, and about ten days ago, she had found the remains of a kitty. After I showed her a few photos of Peps, she confirmed it was her.
I had a feeling Peps was gone—if she were alive, she would have made her way home—but hearing the confirmation still hurt. Life is full of alternating waves of happiness and sadness. Here's to hoping calmer, happier tides are ahead.
Sometimes the sea takes, and sometimes it gives. Today it gave us connection, closure, and the gift of shared memories.
“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination, and brings eternal joy to the soul.”— Wyland
Im so sorry about Peps
