Day 1104 Jailhouse Rock

Theatre by the Sea with My Mom – Jailhouse Rock & Stormy Seas

I had the best day with my mom at Theatre by the Sea to see Jailhouse Rock—a real treat for this Elvis Presley fan! I’ve always loved Elvis. In fact, I even had an Elvis impersonator at my wedding. People laughed at first, but once he started to sing and rock the lawn, the laughter quickly turned to dancing and singing along. It was unforgettable!

The performance was a lot of fun—great dancing, amazing stage sets, and of course, fantastic music. Casting Elvis is no easy feat. It's hard to match the charisma and voice of the King. The actor they cast didn’t have Elvis’s signature deep voice, but he did a good job otherwise and nailed many of his iconic dance moves.

After the show, we drove down to the seawall to check out the ocean’s fury. With the hurricane wreaking havoc offshore, the waves were absolutely wild. Within seconds, our sunglasses were coated in salty sea mist. The seawall was packed with storm chasers—it was quite the scene!

It was amazing to have another weekday off. I’m starting to think I could actually have a clean house if I had a few mornings free each week! I managed to clean, organize, and dare I say it—there are a couple of rooms in my house that are actually presentable now. It's just so hard to keep a clean house, work all day, and still make time for fun or a trip to the beach.

Maybe the cooler mornings helped. It’s been feeling like fall the last two days, with temps in the 50s—had to pull out my winter robe! I scurried around the house, picking up, wiping down, folding laundry, carrying things upstairs and down, and tending to my chickens.

Earlier in the day, I went out front to water my hanging flower basket, and as I turned around, an older woman walking by came up to my door to hand me empty egg cartons. I’ve never seen her before, but every so often I come home to find cartons left at my door, never knowing who dropped them off. I guess she hears my chickens and, being from a generation that didn’t waste anything, figured I could use the cartons. She caught me off guard—had I been thinking, I would have given her some eggs. Now I’ll be keeping an eye out for her so I can return the favor.

My mom and I had dinner out before the show, and after all my adventures, Tim ordered takeout for dinner so we could hunker down and rest up before the busy weekend ahead. I'm glad I was able to get some cleaning done—I may even need to cook a meal soon, before I forget how to use my stove!

On another note... much thanks to the woman that took the photo of me and my mom but what the heck people.... how about getting our feet in the pic?? I had on fabulous shoes, worthy of making the shot!! Ugh! I had to crop the two feet of sky that was captured while wishing for our full length images.

  1. I saw the photo and thought "wow what an amazing photo of them, but I know RC won't be happy about the knee-up shot" and then read the last paragraph of your blog and laughed out loud!
