Day 1124 Second Place!
Back to the beach for a fun night with friends, testing our trivia skills and enjoying a delicious dinner. Our expectations of winning trivia were zero, but we played the game as if we actually stood a chance. Round after round, we racked our brains, pulling out bits of information from the far corners of our memories—and lo and behold, we ended up placing second! AKA first place loser but I'll take it!
Okay, so there weren’t more than a handful of teams, but still… we were pretty darn good!
Ray and Carole joined us and came full of stories from their recent trip to Italy—and even brought me a souvenir! I had asked for a green leather purse, and Carole found me exactly what I’d wished for. Spoiled! Tim and I have really missed hanging out with them. We had such a great time together on our cruise last year, and their company is always easy, entertaining, and genuinely enjoyable.
In between trivia rounds, Ray and I stepped outside to catch the sunset. While it was beautiful, I actually enjoyed the quiet tones of the empty beach more, with the night sky slowly creeping in.
All in all, it was a perfect night—except for the espresso martini that sounded like a great idea and tasted amazing… but kept me up until midnight! Note to self: unless I want to stay awake for hours, skip the 6 PM espresso martini. It may look good, but its effects are relentless.
And as for our second-place finish? Each of us won a free dessert—making the win even sweeter!
Nights like this are a reminder of how good the simple things can be: laughter, good friends, unexpected wins, and memories made by the water. Can’t wait to do it again soon.
