Day 1130 Team of two
Back to the beach for trivia night.
On a cool, rainy evening, the seagulls had the beach all to themselves. Tim and I were a trivia team of two. We had a fantastic dinner, then shook the cobwebs out of our brains to try and answer a series of random questions.
We didn’t do too badly on most of the rounds, but when it came to the puzzle round—where we had to complete lines from obscure poems—we completely bombed.
It was just us and a large team of six sitting next to us. Despite the small crowd, we had fun bantering between rounds and enjoyed the game, even without a room full of competition.
Tim and I came in second... out of two teams, which made us laugh. Still, we claimed our “win.”
The bigger win, though, was our mid-week date night: a delicious dinner at a table overlooking the ocean, and the chance to put all thoughts aside except for trivia questions.
I'm not sure what's going on with the universe lately, but it feels like everyone around us is struggling—at odds with someone in their lives. I warned Tim on the drive to the beach club that we need to be careful not to get pulled into the vortex that seems to be swallowing people up. I may need to keep a rope handy, just in case.
Relationships are delicate—more so than most people realize. Family dynamics can be tricky: in-laws, outlaws, and everything in between.
Sometimes, a quiet night of trivia, laughter, and connection is exactly what you need to stay grounded. Here's to showing up for each other, tuning out the noise, and holding tight to the people we love. Cheers to my team of two!
