Day 1152 True Crime
A quiet night at home, takeout Chinese food, and binge-watching trash TV, not a bad way to spend a Friday night.
I got home early to find Tim already in his comfy clothes, snuggled up under a blanket and clearly calling it a night. I was happy to meet his loungy vibe and threw on my PJs by 5 p.m., happily shedding my jewelry and work clothes and settling in for the night.
Tim ventured out to get us dinner, and after a delicious meal, our fortunes looked promising. Mine read, "A friend will bring you a big surprise soon"... Sounds good to me!
Thankfully, there were no surprises last night. Tim was watching sports while I dove into the deeply disturbing story of Ed Gein. Holy cow! Ed Gein was the real-life inspiration for movies like Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Silence of the Lambs—and honestly, he was far worse than any of those films could portray.
I lay in bed watching the Netflix series, turning the volume down when the suspense got too intense, scaring myself silly yet unable to look away. As horrific, violent, and unsettling as it was, the show was incredibly well done and had me determined to binge every last episode. Even though Tim wasn’t watching with me, I was glad he was home—I’m not sure I would’ve been brave enough to watch something that scary alone.
I was relieved when he finally came up to bed—and yes, he slept closest to the door! There’s something comforting about not being the one who has to fend off the boogeyman first...sorry Tim.
Somehow, Chinese takeout always lasts for three meals, even when you order light—so lunch tomorrow is already taken care of. Whether it was the MSG, the cozy warmth of the house, or the sweet relief of making it to Friday, I slept like a baby… even after watching the scariest show I’ve seen in ages.
Nights like that remind me that rest doesn’t always have to be quiet or peaceful—it can be cozy, creepy, and comforting all at once. And honestly, that’s my kind of perfect. And you'll be happy to hear, even sleeping closest to the door, Tim made it through the night too!
"Love is letting someone else sleep closer to the door after a night of true crime."
