Day 1204 Backtracking

Bear with me as I backtrack a bit.
First off, my squirrel dress! When I casually mentioned that I had been searching for that specific dress, focusing on the fact that it forced me to dig out all the clothing I had packed away, I didn’t realize the images my readers might have formed. My friend Donna came over and immediately said she needed to see the dress. She admitted she had imagined some kind of strange romper with a giant squirrel head on the front… what?!

I guess mentioning a “squirrel dress” does sound a little wild, but it’s really a beautiful corduroy, tailored dress with a pattern of tiny squirrels, you might not even notice they are squirrels unless you’re up close. It’s a Boden dress, a designer known for fun fabrics and well-made clothing. So, in honor of Donna’s curiosity, I wore the dress again, and even though I was looking a mess after a long day, I had Tim snap a photo so I could finally show off that darn dress.

Next backtrack… the time capsule saga continues. A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I wrote a letter to the newspaper expressing my concerns that the time capsule had been opened prematurely and my disappointment with the town’s decision not to wait for our official ceremony. Well, apparently last Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, my letter was published. I even got a byline heading and prominent placement. I must be kind of a big deal around these parts! I’ll attach a link to the letter, just in case you haven’t heard enough about this time capsule already.

I’m definitely not alone in my disappointment, but while most people complain in their kitchens, I make my voice heard (Tim will attest to that!). Maybe my letter will spark more people to speak up?

And finally, my cleaning project was put on the back burner once the holiday weekend ended. I’ll be chipping away at it as the week goes on and hopefully be ready to decorate for Christmas by next weekend.

Thanks for following along with my little backtracks and side steps. Life rarely moves in a straight line, but that’s half the fun! there’s always a story tucked in the unexpected and I'm never shy to tell it. Here’s to a fresh week, a cleaner house, and maybe even more adventures in questionable..but awesome...fashion choices!

Here's my letter to the paper: Shame on SK for stealing our moment
