Day 2113 Karma & Kringle

My PSA for the day… go out and get yourself a Danish Kringle before they’re gone! This delicious, delectable Christmas treat is at Trader Joe’s right now for only $10 (compared to the bakery price of $30+), and it’s worth every penny at either price. You can pop it in the freezer and save it, and it bakes up super quickly, such a treat. Honestly, I love a special once-a-year indulgence and I can’t wait to bite into this one. I’m sure Tim will be reading this and wondering what the heck I’m talking about… he tends to eat whatever is placed in front of him without identifying each item.... oblivious and happy.

I never make it to Trader Joe’s, but I had the forethought to ask a friend who lives nearby to check on them for me, and she was nice enough to pick up two and even deliver them, my favorite way to shop! Slowly but surely, I’ll get everything together for the holiday, especially when I can recruit friends for help. We’re doing a Yankee Swap this year, which makes gift buying easier, but we’ve still got all those grandkids to shop for. I doubt Tim and I will do much of anything for each other; we tend to spoil one another throughout the year, so there’s no need for big gifts on Christmas (though maybe a couple of small ones might be nice?).

Apparently he corrected me on yesterday’s blog—I had the name of the song listed as “Gypsy Scotty,” but it’s really “Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First)” from his 1997 album Mr. Happy Go Lucky. It does have lyrics that say “Gypsy Scotty,” so consider me corrected! Don’t you just hate it when someone says something wrong??? Maybe this is karma kicking me in the butt, since I was just annoyed with someone who used the non-word vebage instead of the correct word verbiage about a dozen times in the course of a presentation. It was like fingernails on a chalkboard every time he said it. I wished I could correct him so he’d stop making the same mistake, but it wasn’t my place, so he’ll go on using the wrong word as if he’s a smarty-pants while people like myself secretly judge him… yup, I did.

So when I threw out the name of the song without concern for accuracy, just trying to explain a name, the timing of the correction was spot-on. Karma! I guess I have two PSAs today: go get the Kringle, and be kind to people when they make mistakes… we all do.

And with that, I’m hoping the season brings more sweetness than stress, more laughter than chaos, and maybe even a few extra Kringles. Here’s to enjoying the little things, and giving ourselves (and each other) a little grace along the way.

As Maya Angelou wisely said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
