Day 2119 Routines

Oh, how I love a festive tabletop! No matter what stage of mess my house is in, I can usually count on my dining room table to offer a vision of how things should be. As the week creeps on, I still have guest rooms to prep before the weekend, huge messes involved, since I pulled out all my winter clothing and promptly threw everything onto the beds in both rooms! This week may end up being more about hiding the mess than actually cleaning it, so if you come to visit… do not try to open any closets. Some things are best left for another day!

I would have gotten something accomplished last night, but I had an appointment for a facial, heaven, then came home relaxed and completely unmotivated. Facials are a woman’s oil change. When we’re young, we hardly need them, but as we get older, we need them much more frequently. Important upkeep for an older vehicle. I probably don’t go as often as I should, but I do go more often than most, so there’s that. I have great skin, yup, my esthetician reminds me of this every time I go, and I want to keep it that way. I don’t mind my wrinkles; hey, I’m sixty years old, so I should have a few. But I want the best skin possible, so I spoil myself with facials. I’ve often said I’d be fine donating organs when I die, and if the doctors are smart, they’d use my skin for a burn victim. Weird, but true.

More big cat news on the home front: Tim fell asleep in our basement family room and woke up in the middle of the night to find the cat sleeping on the couch on the other side of the room… yes, on the couch! Of course, as soon as he stood up, she ran back into the basement utility room, but we’re both super excited that she’s starting to come out. Not sure if it’s the plug-in diffuser, the calming cat treats, or the predictable routine that’s helping, but we’ll continue with everything and embrace these small steps forward.

Sometimes progress is just a pretty table, a good facial, or a brave cat on the couch...or a closet hiding spot...And honestly, I’ll take every one of these!
