Day 2121 Countdown

 

Seriously, how can Christmas be less than a week away?? I’d love to report that I’m ready, gifts bought and neatly wrapped under the tree...but that just isn’t happening this year! I do have bags of gifts, mostly for the grandchildren, but I am far from ready. Anticipating limited time, I bought a large bag filled with a variety of Christmas gift bags. A gal’s gotta do what she’s gotta do.

As the time crunch started creeping in, I put all my to-dos aside and went out with Heather and CJ. Good friends are good for the soul, and we all needed a friendship fix before the holiday chaos fully took over. We were sorry Lauren couldn’t join us, but grateful that at least the three of us made it out. I’m eternally thankful the universe put our fab four together, truly the best kind of gift, and definitely one you’ll never find under a tree.

Tim has started asking what I might want for Christmas, curious about which category of jewelry I own the least of, necklaces, rings, bracelets, brooches… anklets! Wow, he was casting a wide net. He wanted to know the dos and don’ts, so since he asked, I requested that he not buy me jewelry at all. We’ll see if he listens. He’s usually a very good gift buyer, sometimes a little weird, but always interesting.

I really should go through all the bags of gifts and see what I actually have; after a few weeks of shopping, it all becomes a blur. I did buy Tim a beautiful red sweater, much needed for our holiday parties. Now he’ll be a bit more festive than his usual black hoodie. That's already been put into rotation, since he needs it now, so one gift...done! 

Food to order, gifts to wrap, last-minute items to buy, and only six days to go. Time to get moving. Ready or not, Christmas is coming, bringing with it all the holiday cheer we can muster.
