Day 2124 Legos

Legos for the win...once again. Call me crazy for saving all the Legos my kids collected over the years, but every time my grandkids come over and pull them out, I call it a win. That giant bin of random pieces has provided endless entertainment for my kids, my grandkids, and any children who happen to stop by for a visit.

Many of the pieces came from basic sets, multiple boxes of simple building materials, now mixed in with a variety of specialty sets that will never be put together again as originally intended. Instead, they provide fun, imaginative pieces for brand-new creations, which honestly feels even better.

Mack and Timmy have spent most of the weekend on the floor, busy creating. Timmy, gathering all the Lego people and decapitating them, their heads now scattered throughout the house. Thankfully, he liked my idea of finding all the people and trying to put them back together, which will make cleanup much easier.

It was the last weekend before Christmas, with so much to do, but once the kids arrived, all of that went by the wayside. I sat holding that sweet baby most of the day, (ok, the weekend) soaking up the baby vibes while I can. All three of the kids are incredibly sweet, and that’s not just me being biased. They really are.

So now I’ll be rolling into Monday on two wheels, scrambling to get things ready for a houseful on Christmas Eve. I’m sure it will all come together somehow, especially with a little Christmas magic. Grocery delivery certainly helps, most of the food is already here, so I just need to fill in the gaps.

I’ve heard the president is considering making the day before and the day after Christmas federal holidays, giving us three days off. Yes, please! That would be a very welcome addition, fingers crossed. And the Powerball is over a billion dollars… can you imagine winning that? I might have to buy a ticket. My daughter reminds me that many winners end up going bankrupt, but I only imagine the fun they have along the way. That’s a problem I’d be willing to take on.

So, tickets to buy, house to clean, meals to prep, and gifts to wrap...here we go. I’ll let the spirit of Christmas carry me through it all, reminding me that these busy, chaotic moments are the ones we’ll remember most...and of course all the time on the floor building legos.
