Day 2125 Cocktails
Gifts of Christmases past take me back a few years to my drink machine. Tim always has a way of finding an item that I’ve either never seen before, or would never, in a million years, buy for myself. When I opened this gift, I must admit my first thought was… where on earth are we going to put this gigantic machine? But Tim was so excited for me to try it, and he bought it with the best intentions. I immediately made room for it and gave it a go.
He figured that since I love hosting parties and entertaining, but hate mixing drinks, it would be perfect. It was hard to know if it would be a hit or a miss, but three years later it’s still going strong, so I’d say it’s definitely a hit. If you’ve never seen one, it’s actually pretty cool. You buy mix pods for whatever cocktail you’d like, and each one has a barcode. When you put it in the machine, it reads the drink and automatically pulls the liquor needed. It's like a Keurig for cocktails.
The pods aren’t cheap, roughly $4 per drink, so I’m not sure it’s ideal for a large party, but for a smaller gathering, it’s a lot of fun. I still would never splurge on such a frivolous item, but that’s Tim’s specialty. I’m more of a socks-and-shirts kind of gift giver, practical gifts… aka boring, I’m sure! Maybe next year I’ll have to search for some newfangled item and surprise him with a gift from left field.
Either way, I can’t wait for Christmas morning, when the world is quiet and all we need to do is enjoy the day, each other, whatever random gifts we’ve opened and maybe even a fancy cocktail!
