Day 2128 Christmas 2025 in the books!
Christmas 2025 is in the books, and oh, what fun it was! I love a relaxing holiday, playing games, lounging around, and just soaking in the season with no pressure at all. Not all of my kids could be home on Christmas Day, but we had plenty of fun on Christmas Eve. It gets tricky when there's in-laws and holidays need to be split between families. My grandkids were at my son in laws for the day, but requested to be dropped off at my house after dinner, sending my daughter and son-in-law home while they opted for an evening of games at Grammy’s.
I had bought a few silly board games (I always do), and they knew there would be a dining room table full of fun waiting for them. We played several different games, munching on popcorn and making fun of what a terrible artist I am...and it’s okay, because I truly am bad! The game Telestrations is kind of like telephone: one person draws something, the next person guesses what it is and writes it down, then passes it along for the next person to draw, very funny to see what the end result is.
I’m not completely terrible… unless it requires drawing any kind of animal. I never progressed beyond stick people, and apparently they don’t translate into animals very well. My drawings were so bad that the entire table would erupt in laughter when my sketch was revealed. My son even snapped photos of a few masterpieces to enjoy for laughs in the future.
Well, I may not be Michelangelo, but Christmas dinner, lamb with various delicious sides, was incredible. I’m guessing my cooking skills were more appreciated than my drawing skills would have been! I wisely made two legs of lamb, knowing the appetites of my audience, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the meal be devoured with rave reviews. I truly love cooking for people who appreciate good food, and my son definitely knows how to compliment the chef....compliments go a long way!
So over the holidays, everyone was happy: my son got his lamb, my other son got his turkey, and my daughter got her ham, while the rest of us enjoyed it all. I have a feeling there will be plenty more game nights ahead, and I wouldn’t be surprised if my grandkids request another ride over to Grammy’s soon. Heck, maybe we’ll even have a sleepover?. After all, the best memories are made around the table when we're all together. Gifts will be forgotten but I have a feeling the memories of our day together will last a lifetime. ...and my drawings will live on in infamy.
