Day 2130 Food!!

Food, Glorious Food

I may need to be rolled into 2026 after a week of cooking. My son enjoys good food more than anyone I know and raves about everything I make...so, of course, I indulge. I made his favorite cinnamon rolls for breakfast, which he and I ate more than we should have while they were fresh and warm from the oven. We lounged around lazily, and while he was at the gym, I cooked up a delicious dinner: Marry Me Chicken served over mashed potatoes. Both were photo-worthy, and yes, every bite was scrumptious.

Tim isn’t one to ever rave about food. He eats with no complaints, but equally no compliments, and I’m realizing just how important those compliments are to inspire all that work! My grandkids, compliment my cooking every time they visit. Smart boys…who just happen to get pancakes every morning.

Outside it was cold and snowy, but inside it was warm, and every inch of the house smelled delicious all day. We played a bunch of board games, with Tim winning our marathon game of Mexican Trains, so no doubt he’ll want to play that one again. We may venture out into the world soon and do a few touristy things, and although we should go out to eat, I may have to chef up another meal or two to dazzle my houseguests.

Maybe Tim will pick up on the correlation between compliments and my desire to cook....compliments really do go a long way. Time will tell. In his defense, he’s just not a foodie…maybe he has faulty taste buds or something. But at least he knows, from everyone around him, that he’s spoiled with delicious meals and baked goods.

Games, warm kitchens, full bellies, and family chatter all day, what’s not to love? Some of the best memories are made right at home, one good meal at a time!

“Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all.” — Harriet Van Horne
