Day 2132 Puzzles & Chickens
When was the last time you did a puzzle? I hadn’t attempted one in ages, but I dragged one out and decided to give it a go. Erica came over, and the two of us, after spending a good amount of time watching my chickens, sat down to tackle the 500-piece puzzle. We sat together for hours, happily singing along to Christmas songs, sorting through pieces, and working on the outline.
I’d love to report that we finished it, but after several hours that darn puzzle was still about 98% unfinished. We both agreed that next time we’ll go for a fancy 50-piece one instead. I can now fully understand why people want to frame puzzles once they finish them… not that I’ll ever get that far with this one.
After setting the puzzle aside, we were back to chicken watching, my girls providing endless entertainment. On a whim, I wondered if there were YouTube channels dedicated to chicken watching, and sure enough, there are! We watched Barnyard Chickens for a bit and quickly decided that I could start my own channel...my girls are just as entertaining, if not more so. My Betty White alone would no doubt be instantly famous with her regal beauty. She’s a good-looking bird!
Not sure if I can make my Youtube show happen, but Tim arrived home to a flurry of questions about how to get video footage of our coop uploaded… so who knows, it could be a good winter project. Chicken TV would be a sure hit, right? As for the cat, she wouldn’t make riveting television just yet, still hiding in her basement corner, wondering what on earth is going on with people coming and going all day. I go in and talk with her throughout the day, brining treats and telling her it's ok to come out...but respecting her space and giving her the time she needs to regroup.
I was already in my pajamas when my daughter stopped by with one of my grandsons, ready for game night, so there was no early bedtime for me. We played several rounds of our new game, Mexican Trains, which is super fun and can be played with two to eight players, making it perfect for our clan. Tim seems to be the big winner at this one, so he’s happy to play and show off his skills.
All in all, it was one of those cozy, slightly chaotic days that make winter feel a little warmer. Puzzles unfinished, chickens watched, games played...and great new project ideas sprouting up. Imagine uploading a few hours of new chicken footage each week.... that would be worth watching!
