Day 2148 Change

Throwing it back to me with one of my very first iPhones… completely oblivious to how dependent the world would become on technology. Trust me, it wasn't easy to give up that sweet pink Razor flip phone. Every time I think I’ve finally got a handle on the latest and greatest tech, the bar gets raised yet again, and I’m forced to learn a whole new level. It’s no wonder I listen to ’70s music....bringing my mind back to a simpler time, when all we had to do was turn on the radio and sing along blissfully.

My latest phone upgrade has left me unable to upload photos to my blog. I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually, but it’s going to take more brain power (and time) than I currently have. For some crazy reason, Google isn’t allowing me to access my photos… and of course there’s a help page that pops up, as if I’ve got time to go through all that! I’ll work on it at some point, but for now, it’s throwback photos from my laptop.

We get so used to things being the way they are, change is hard. I recently changed our everyday dinner plates, which completely freaked Tim out and threw a wrench into his comfort level. I’ve been wanting to swap out my plain white plates for a while, but I needed to find the perfect replacement before taking the jump. When I spotted a set of retro Corelle butterfly gold print plates, straight out of the ’70s, I knew it was time.

Tim went to grab a plate and announced that he’d use one of the “weird new plates,” clearly not embracing the vibe, but also not bucking the new system. I just laughed and told him he had no idea how cool they are and that he’d get used to them. Those sets were popular for a reason and have withstood the test of time, so I’m sure even Tim will learn to love them… someday.

I may kick back tonight, turn on my ’70s tunes, serve up dinner on my retro plates, and ignore my phone and the ever-changing world of new technology. Doesn’t that sound nice?

One more thing....cat update. I moved the cat’s food far away from her litter box, right in the doorway between the basement and our family room, encouraging her to at least see her bigger world. She ate the food, so she’s at least looking! Slowly but surely, she’ll inch her way toward our living spaces. Progress comes in many forms... and it's up to us to embrace it!
