Day 2154 Grateful

Happy hens, enjoying their hot breakfast of feed and oatmeal soaked in hot water, yes, they’re spoiled. People often ask what I do with my chickens in the winter. Other than spoiling them with hot breakfasts, not a thing… after all, they are birds! They keep warm by huddling together at night, and their feathers do a great job of keeping them plenty warm. The frozen ground isn’t ideal for scratching, but otherwise they are as happy as a flock can be.

Happiness seems to be in the air lately...friends and family calling with good news, and me sharing a bit of my own. I’ve been invited to speak at a state conference in Maine… super exciting! Tim says presenting a 50-minute educational session to a room full of strangers sounds like punishment, but he also added that he’s proud of me, so there’s that. He even took the day off to travel with me and stay in the fancy hotel they’re putting me up in. Now I just have to work on my presentation, but I’m super jazzed to bring a bit of Rhode Island tools for success to the state of Maine. My mind is a flurry of ideas, with every bit of creative juice working overtime.

As jazzed as I was, I had to redirect my attention back to Mahjong when a dozen friends arrived at my door again to have me teach them. I taught a beginner table, while last week’s gals sat at a separate table, feeling like the cool table that actually had an idea of what they were doing. This was the last week for newcomers, though, so everyone can move forward without my attention being pulled back to the basics. As promised, I kicked them all out early, but they left loving the game, happy to be learning, and eager for next week.

Life feels full right now, in the best way. Between spoiled chickens, new opportunities, and a house filled with laughter, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for it all. I even booked a trip to visit my son, 'cause why not?!
