Day 2176 Progress

Who knew these beautiful waxed amaryllis would last so darn long? Certainly not me! I received two of these beauties at Christmas and had never seen them before. I had no idea they would be so cool. With no care at all...somehow they don’t need water, thanks to the bulb being enclosed in wax. The blooms have lasted ages and are spectacular. I’m officially hooked and can’t wait to buy more next year. I have a feeling I’ll be giving a few as gifts, too. With no care needed, they really do make the perfect gift, one that lasts for months.
Christmas feels like ages ago now. The middle-of-February doldrums are setting in, and we all need a fresh bloom here and there. With Valentine’s Day coming up, no flowers are needed this year. Instead, Tim and I have dinner plans at our beach club, at my request. He’s not always a fan of long, sit-down dinners, but it only took a little arm-twisting to convince him it would make a fun Valentine’s date night. I made an early reservation since, if we’re going to dine seaside, I’d like to actually see the ocean and the sunset. And let’s face it, we’re at the age when the early bird dinner sounds pretty darn good.
Basement cat update....Tim had another encounter with as she ran by him, no doubt trying to escape from Alcatraz. But at least she’s learning that we’re not trying to harm her, baby steps. Two sightings in one week is progress. I'm also seriously leaning towards changing her name to Al.... makes sense to me!
We’re creeping closer to springing our clocks forward, enjoying later sunsets and warmer weather, and maybe even seeing our basement cat emerge more often. All things take time, but just like our beautiful amaryllis blooms, most things are worth the wait. Here’s to brighter days ahead, small signs of growth, and finding joy in the simple surprises that carry us from one season to the next.
