Day 2177 Friends...and progress

What would we do without friends to make us laugh?

Four days ago, I was chatting with my friends, going over the details of the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping that seems to have us all glued to the news these days. As we said our goodbyes, I told them I needed to go watch Nancy Grace to catch up on the latest findings...assuming they knew what that meant. Apparently not.

For those of you who don’t know, Nancy Grace has a news show and covers all the latest happenings down to the tiniest details. Oh, how I laughed when I got this text last night! You’ve got to love it, and appreciate that she just smiled and nodded, even though she had no idea what on earth I was talking about.

A little laugh is just what we need in this crazy world… especially one that still has us all shaking our heads, wondering who in the world would kidnap an old woman.

Not to compete for big news, but both Tim and I each had sightings of our basement cat! The cat came out and ran right by him again, coming up into the living room. When I arrived home, Tim and I laughed imagining the cat’s distress that “the loud one” was back. I tried to be as quiet as I could, taking off my shoes and going about my business, trying to embrace calmness.

I was sitting on the kitchen couch when I saw her walk out of the living room and make it halfway across the dining room floor before she looked up and saw me sitting right in front of her. She froze. I quietly told her it was okay, but she scooted back downstairs to her hiding spot...but not in a panic run, more of a scoot.

Not to brag, but that makes three sightings this week! I call that progress....slow going, but it’s there.

Sometimes progress comes in baby steps...sometimes at a snails pace...but either way...its progress! Someday that little basement cat will build confidence and realize even "the loud one" means her no harm. Hopefully, the kidnapping case will also make progress and end with no harm! So I'll keep on my daily routine, talking to my basement cat each morning, each afternoon, giving treats and reassuring her she's safe.... keeping my eye on the news hoping for a safe outcome in the horrific kidnapping case...and thanking my lucky stars for good friends that make me laugh in any situation.
