Day 2184 Games

Dinner and games with my daughter and one of my grandsons, a perfect way to spend an evening. The basement cat wasn’t impressed with us having company over and stayed tucked away in her favorite hiding spot! Not surprising, since she’s still getting used to Tim and me. I doubt she’ll be opening up to others anytime soon, but that's ok.

My grandson had his pick for dinner and chose the bowling alley, so off we went. Every time I see him, I’m continuously amazed at how tall he is...over six feet and still growing! How on earth did my once tiny little grandbaby grow up to be such a giant?

After dinner, we all gathered in the family room (where the basement cat could hear us) and played a few rounds of a fun game, again, my grandson’s choice. Herd Mentality is a funny game where you answer a question and hope your response matches everyone else’s. It’s fun to see how differently people answer simple questions, and even funnier when you realize just how much (or how little) you think alike.

My daughter is usually so busy with the life of a mom of teens, driving from here to there, keeping up with school events and sports practices, so I appreciate the moments when we can just sit and chat. It was also my stepdaughter’s birthday. Since she’s out of town, we didn’t get to celebrate with her, but she turned 33… a fantastic age in my book! Hopefully we’ll catch up with her soon and have a proper birthday celebration with her and the boys.

Tim and I might need a baby fix soon, because baby Scottie won’t be a baby for long if my oldest grandson is any indication. Time moves far too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the quiet weekend ahead, time at home, helping our cat continue to adjust to us and her surroundings. It’s exciting to see her venture out a little more each day, inching closer to feeling comfortable here. Before long, I imagine she’ll be waltzing into the kitchen and lounging in the sunshine like she’s always belonged.

I love these everyday moments that quietly become the memories we cherish most. Life may move quickly, but thankfully I'm smart enough to be grateful for nights like this.
