Day 2193 Trick Shots

Don’t you just love it when a night takes off unexpectedly and turns into more fun than you ever could have planned?
We set out to meet friends at George’s to sit by the ocean, watch the seals and boats, and enjoy a beautiful sunset and dinner. Well, upon arrival, we were greeted with a “Closed” sign and had to quickly roll into Plan B. We met at Mariner Grill, with Carole and Ray arriving first and managing to find only a table for four when we actually needed one for six. But when Tim and I walked in and realized we knew the couple sitting at the table for two next to Carole and Ray, we quickly pulled the tables together and suddenly had a cozy table for eight, merging my friends together seamlessly.
We all enjoyed delicious dinners, drinks, and nonstop laughs before heading out. Since none of us were ready to call it a night, Tim and I invited everyone to join us at our Elks Lodge for another round. My friends had never been to an Elks Lodge before, so they were excited for the new experience.
As we arrived and I was signing everyone in, the Exalted Ruler came out to greet me and handed out Elks pins to all my friends. She then apparently asked Tim if he had his card… lol. Of course, he didn’t have it with him, a $1 penalty! Thankfully, she didn’t impose the fine and let him slide in with me and my crew. The lodge was busy, but we found a big table and eventually snuck into the back room to play pool, again, more fun than expected. Everyone took turns playing, showing off trick shots and fancy gameplay… some more successful than others.
Tim had me laughing like crazy on our ride home, but for the life of me, I can’t remember what he said that had me laughing so hard! I’ll have to see if I can pull it out of him today.
What started as disappointment over Plan A not working out became just a tiny blip in one of those nights worth remembering, full of friends, laughter, and the kind of unexpected joy you simply can’t plan. Sometimes the best evenings are the ones that unfold on their own, reminding us that great company is what truly makes a night special.....and to always be ready for whatever adventure life takes you on.
