Deal of the day

The little YETI espresso mugs were my deal of the day, and absolutely worth the trip to Westerly to pick up. The thrift store smartly posts photos of special / interesting donations online, and the first person to email about an item gets it held for them. With so many social media followers, it’s tough to be first unless your timing is perfect, but I always take a chance anyway....and sometimes get lucky.
I had spotted these adorable mugs and quickly sent an email, thrilled to receive a response saying I had first dibs. My mom joined me for a morning of thrifting, eager to see if the store might be hiding any other treasures for us. I could browse thrift store shelves all day, especially the housewares section, which is always full of unique and unexpected finds.
But aside from my little mugs, neither of us discovered anything else worth bringing home, so we headed to the register with just the pair of espresso cups. At $5 for both, they felt like an absolute steal considering they retail for around $35. Crazy!
As we drove, I told my mom about the burger place Jess and I had tried recently, and before long we had made plans for an early dinner there. Tim agreed to give the new restaurant a try, so the three of us headed out for burgers. My mom and I split a smash burger, both fully aware that neither of us could finish a whole burger on our own, while Tim ordered a classic burger with bacon.
Our burger was delicious, and that’s saying something because I’m not usually a burger person. Paired with onion rings, our half burger was the perfect amount of food, and each of us enjoyed a tiny bottle of prosecco alongside dinner.
Afterward, Tim waited until we were safely alone in the car before announcing that he had hated everything about his meal… what?! He didn’t like his burger, said the bacon was too hard, and even complained about the bun... which I’m still not sure why his bun was so bad. So while my mother and I left with rave reviews of our delicious dinner, Tim has absolutely no interest in returning.
It’s no wonder we end up at The Mariner all the time. He’s a tough critic, but I’m hoping he’ll give the place another chance someday...but for now it's back to my lazy man lobster at the mariner..the sacrifices I make for my man!
