Jungle

Great propagation success starts a whole new chapter of propagation problems. When I innocently cut a stem from a plant and placed it into water, I had no idea that several years later I’d have over a dozen thriving plants creating a small jungle in my office. What started as a simple project quickly turned into a small obsession, seeing how many plants I could grow from that one little clipping… and then adding another variety, and another after that.

As I sit amongst my greenery, with oxygen practically pumping through the room, I realize I may have overdone it… imagine that! So, I began selecting several plants to bring home. Not that I need more plants there either, but I figured at least through the spring and summer they can thrive outside.

It seems every indoor plant I bring into my office flourishes with my weekly care and attention. I repot them when needed, take more clippings, propagate even more plants, and have given dozens away to friends. So really, there’s no downside, other than running out of space.

I have a large fiddle-leaf fig plant that’s now almost five feet tall. I bought that one years ago while studying for a test because apparently the plant helps people focus, and I need all the help I can get there! Now I find myself shopping for new varieties, researching the benefits of certain plants, and adding them to my ever-growing wish list.

My mom recently gave me a few clippings from a scented geranium that smells amazing and finally seems to be taking root now that I’ve planted it in soil, fingers crossed.

Beyond simply looking beautiful, plants bring an undeniable sense of peace and energy into a space. In feng shui, plants represent vibrant life force energy. They’re believed to increase positivity, reduce stress, and encourage growth and prosperity....and honestly, I’ll take all of that. I’ve got a money plant and lucky bamboo to attract success, my fiddle-leaf fig symbolizes growth and stability, while climbing plants bring uplifting, upward energy. My snake plant and pothos not only add greenery but also help improve air quality, creating a healthier and more calming environment.

With so many benefits surrounding me every day, success feels almost inevitable. At the very least, I’ve created a little oasis that makes each day brighter, one propagated clipping at a time.
