Spring

Brush away the cobwebs and drag out the lawnmower, spring is finally here. The first mow of the season always feels like turning the page to warmer weather and life outdoors again. After scurrying around the house all morning trying to catch up on chores, I ventured outside to tackle the mess winter left behind, ready to reclaim the yard for the new season.
Tim has been hard at work on the patio, with rocks spread out and a growing pile of sand on the ready. Little by little, we’re getting closer to having our patio back. He also put together my new deck table, which we both love. It’s the perfect size for the space, and perfect for an outdoor game of mahjong. Now I’m just waiting on my new chairs to arrive. I’m anxious to see everything come together and be able to sit back and enjoy it all.
My daughter brought over a tray of flowers to fill the planter by my front door, complete with a thriller, spiller, and fillers, the makings of a beautiful display. I also dragged several large planters outside after their long winter residency indoors, where they can finally soak up the sunshine again. The hibiscus trees happily survived another season, and with them moved back outdoors, the house suddenly feels like it has a little more elbow room.
With all the windows open and a fresh breeze drifting through the house, everything felt heavenly. We had plans to meet friends for dinner later that evening, but first, I stole an hour for a nap in the sunshine on the deck. I guess I’m a napper now!
We met at George's of Galilee, where we sat watching the ferry boats travel back and forth to Block Island. Before long, we were all agreeing that we need to plan a trip there soon. Dinner was fantastic, and dining with an ocean view never gets old.
Beach days feel so close now. I can almost feel the sand beneath my feet and the sunshine on my face. It’s amazing I’m able to accomplish anything during the summer months with the beach constantly calling my name! After months of winter hibernation, it feels good to step back outside and enjoy the beauty of the season again. I have a feeling this is going to be a wonderful summer.
