Balance

After a very long day, skipping lunch and not getting home until after 7 p.m., I was ready to chew my arm off from hunger. The options were simple: have Tim throw a frozen pizza in the oven or have him ready to head out the door the moment I pulled into the driveway. Needless to say, Mariner Grille won by a landslide.
The restaurant was packed, as always, but we managed to find one seat at the bar. Good enough for me to sit while Tim stood next to me until a second seat opened up. Honestly, after the week we've both had, neither of us minded. He's been missing me with all of my late nights, and I've been missing him just as much. It made for some great conversation as we tried to catch up on everything that's been going on over the past few days.
There was plenty to talk about, especially lemons! Between the surprise lemon trees and everything else life has been throwing our way lately, there never seems to be a shortage of stories.
Thankfully, we're creeping closer to the weekend and a long-overdue couple of days to relax...or at least do whatever we feel like doing (or need to get done)!
It's shaping up to be a very busy summer, and possibly an even busier year, with so much happening in our day-to-day lives. Still, I'm determined not to let work and responsibilities take over all of my "real life" time. Balance is a tricky thing to achieve, but it's a goal worth pursuing. I've got a brick patio to finish, housework that's been neglected, and most importantly, a date night or two with Timothy.
In the meantime, he's been spending more time bonding with our basement cat while waiting for me to come home. The other night he even attempted to pick her up. She immediately jumped away, but she came right back. For a cat who spent so much time hiding and keeping her distance, that's a huge step forward. I don't think we're too far away from the day when we'll be able to pick her up, and show her some love.
For today, I'm thankful for good dinners, good conversations, weekends on the horizon, and one very brave basement cat slowly finding her confidence....oh, and dreams of fresh lemons.
