Center stage

My two new ashtrays have settled in nicely and taken center stage on my dining room table. A bit of greenery accompanying my vintage works of art makes for the perfect mix of old and new. These ashtrays are bigger than you’d imagine and much heavier than you’d think. I’m not even sure anyone sells ashtrays anymore… do they?

Back in the day, we made ashtrays every year in art class for our parents, imagine that today. Funny how things change.

Not much changed this weekend as far as the weather goes, still a mix of rain, with just a few teasing glimpses of sunshine here and there. I continued on with my cleaning mission, moving dresses to the back rack and bringing spring and summer pieces to the forefront. I tried to thin out the abundance of options and managed to fill four garbage bags as I sorted through seasonal clothing… with much more still to go.

That will have to be good enough for a while, since the weekend came to a close much faster than I could finish any more projects.

At least I was able to squeeze in a walk with Missy before rolling up my sleeves and diving into household chores. She and I haven’t walked together in a while, either the weather hasn’t cooperated or our schedules haven’t lined up. We tend to walk early in the morning, before either of our busy days can interfere… that’s usually the only way it happens.

Our walk was fantastic, made even better with a quick stop at South County Bread for a morning bun, kind of counterproductive, but delicious all the same.

All in all it was a full weekend, finding beauty in old things, making a bit of progress around the house, getting outside for some fresh air, and sharing coffee and conversation along the way. The to-do list will still be there tomorrow. For now, I’m calling it a weekend well spent.
