Slice of heaven

A little slice of heaven right here at home.
Sitting in the sunshine, watching the ferries glide by, listening to the gentle rhythm of the ocean waves, taking in another incredible sunset, and enjoying dinner with Tim and my youngest son, life truly doesn't get much better than that. My son even happily agreed to a photo with his mom, A rare chance for me to show off my handsome boy.
The guys laughed at how happy it all made me as I basked in the sunshine and repeatedly declared how grateful I was to be back at my beach club. After a long New England winter, there is something magical about returning to a place that feels like a second home. I spent the evening greeting my summer friends with hugs, smiles, and conversations about upcoming bands, parties, and all the fun that the season promises.
What's funny is that many of us live in the same town year-round, yet we hardly see one another during the winter months. Then summer arrives, and suddenly we're thick as thieves again, picking up right where we left off. It's one of my favorite things about beach club life.
And those glorious sunsets ...They never get old. An ocean sunset has to be one of the most spectacular sights in the world. The sky transforms into a masterpiece of colors that no camera can fully capture. How lucky are we to enjoy views like this whenever we want?
Dinner was delicious, although I made the mistake of ordering a chicken sandwich that turned out to be far spicier than I expected. Thankfully, sitting between Tim and my son more than made up for my questionable menu choice.... who knew a Nashville Chicken Sandwich would be so spicy?
Wednesday nights at the club mean trivia night, so of course we joined in. We ended up leaving before the final round, forfeiting our third-place standing, living up to our team name, the Bail Outs, but we had fun while we were in the mix. My son is incredibly smart, which makes trivia frustrating for him. Silly questions about random bits of information don't always seem worthy of his brainpower, yet he still came through with plenty of answers for our team.
The room was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and people genuinely excited to welcome summer back into their lives. After months of waiting for warm weather, everyone seemed determined to soak up every minute of it.
As the sun disappeared below the horizon and the evening came to an end, I couldn't help but think how fortunate I am. Good food, family, friends, ocean breezes, and a front-row seat to a beautiful sunset, Doesn't get much better than that! These are the moments that make life rich.
Beach nights will always be my favorite.... especially when I can share it sandwiched between two of my favorite guys.
