Quirky

Another beach night... because why not?
Tim and I spent another glorious day at the beach with Jessica, soaking up the sunshine, listening to the waves, and sneaking in a catnap or two. Summer days seem to have their own rhythm, and this one was delightfully slow.
The Green Hill Beach Club has one rule that always makes me laugh. Each member can bring the same guest only three times during the summer. Three! We could technically bring five different people every single day, but the same person? Just three visits. So there we were, almost together...Jessica on one side of the fence and Tim and me on the other, with nothing but a rope separating us on a nearly empty stretch of beach. It seemed a little ridiculous considering there was hardly anyone there, but rules are rules. We decided to save one of her precious guest passes for another beach day later this summer.
After a full day in the sun, we headed home, showered off the salt and sand, changed into our evening clothes, and made our way back to the Galilee beach club for live music and another summer night with friends. I had invited a few people to join us, and thankfully the guest policy there is much more generous, so there's no need to ration invitations.
The club was noticeably quieter than the night before, which made for a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere. The band was good, not my favorite, but honestly, live music by the water is hard to beat. There's just something about hearing familiar songs with a salty breeze blowing through the air that makes everything feel a little more magical.
Every time I walk through my front door, I'm reminded that the house could really use a dedicated cleaning day. Laundry waits patiently, counters need wiping, and there are always little chores calling my name. But when the sun is shining and the beach is only minutes away, it's awfully hard to convince myself to stay inside. The beach calls during the day... and somehow it calls again at night. Summer has a way of making priorities shift, and I'm perfectly okay with that. The dust and mess will still be there tomorrow.
Tim, as always, entertained everyone, including me. Every single time I try to snap a nice selfie of the two of us, he manages to make a crazy face. I should know better by now, but he never disappoints. One of these days I'll get a normal picture... although, truthfully, I think I'd miss capturing his quirky ways.
So yes, the house is still a bit of a mess, but our souls are feeling wonderfully refreshed. We've spent the weekend soaking up sunshine, breathing in the salty air, laughing with friends, and reminding ourselves that these beautiful New England summer days are far too short to waste indoors.
The house can wait. Summer won't.
