Abundance

They say there’s no place like home, and the older I get, the more I realize just how true that is.
After a crazy-busy week and a late night out, a day at home was exactly what the doctor ordered. It’s funny how a house can almost wrap itself around you and give you a sense of peace. No matter how nice it is to get out, explore, spend time with friends, or have somewhere to go, there’s something pretty special about coming home.
There’s comfort in the familiar, the things you’ve collected over the years, the little corners you’ve made your own, the artwork on the walls, and all the pieces that tell the story of your life. It’s not necessarily about having the biggest or nicest house. It’s about creating a place that feels like it wraps a warm blanket around you each time you enter.
Sometimes, the best days are the ones when there’s nowhere to be and nothing that absolutely has to get done. You can move a little slower, enjoy your coffee, putter around the house, and simply appreciate the life you’ve created...with the person you love.
That’s one of the things that comes with getting older: realizing that happiness isn’t always found in the next adventure or the next place you’re headed. More often than not, it’s right where you are.
Tim and I agreed when we were married to take our anniversary off each year, to spend the daay together... we're smart like that. No need for gifts or adventures, just a full day together. And after a busy week, I was more than happy to stay home, recharge, and appreciate all the little things that make this place ours. Because as Dorothy so famously reminded us, there really is no place like home.
