Toasty

And so it begins… the cold weather is slowly creeping in, and the pellet stove has officially made its seasonal debut! As much as I’m a summer gal, I have to admit there’s something wonderfully cozy about looking out the window at a cold, breezy landscape while sitting in front of a warm, toasty fire. It’s one of those little comforts that makes the transition to colder weather a bit easier to accept.

Poor Tim hasn’t been feeling his best lately, fighting off a cold and the sniffles. So, on my way home, I stopped by our local market in hopes of finding their homemade (ok, store made)  Italian wedding soup. Our local market makes the best soups, and if you time it just right, as I often do, you can walk in and find exactly what you’re craving! It was my lucky day because there it was, just waiting for me. I grabbed a loaf of French bread to go with it and, because a little extra TLC never hurts, I picked up his favorite peach ice cream, too. Surely, that ought to help get him back on his feet.

I’ll be busy with an event this weekend, so Tim will be fending for himself for the most part. I’ve stocked him up with the essentials: soup, bread, peach ice cream, and, of course, Gatorade. Add a cozy spot in front of the fire and plenty of rest, and hopefully, he’ll be feeling like himself again in no time.

As for me, I have absolutely NO time to get sick! I’ve got things to do and places to be, so I’m hoping those pesky germs don’t decide to make their way into my system. Of course, I’m not sure how much control we really have over catching a cold, but I’ll be doing my best to keep this one at bay. Fingers crossed.

Despite the chill in the air, we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy some beautiful sunshine, which makes these early days of cold weather a little more bearable. I can handle the cooler temperatures as long as the sun keeps shining and the days still offer a bit of warmth and light. But once those gray skies settle in and the sun starts disappearing earlier and earlier, I suspect we’ll all be ready to pull up a blanket, settle in by the fire, and hibernate until spring!

For now, I’ll embrace the cozy moments, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, and hope that a little soup, a little rest, and a whole lot of warmth will have Tim back to his old self soon. After all, if we have to say goodbye to summer, we might as well make the most of the comforts that come with the season. I'll be keeping the pellet stove going, and soup on the stove...even if I have to run to the market to buy it.
